Upstage Hackathon

We are excited to announce that we successfully reached the finals of the Upstage hackathon, part of Global AI Week in Jeju, South Korea.

Competing against 600+ participants, we were selected among the top 15 teams to build a working SaaS solution over the weekend of September 27–29, 2024.

Our vision, which we have been thinking of for over five years, came to life. We built an operating system for data that integrates a company's internal data in a seamless way. The system utilizes over 20 algorithms for automatically extracting tables from flat files (Excel, CSV, Word, PowerPoint, PDF) in a structured way, orchestrated by AWS Step Functions.

This allows data to be uploaded, clustered, and retrieved by users, with the ability to query their own data or collaborate with their teammates within a chat board interface. This chat interface is powered by OpenAI's latest ChatGPT-4o with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), a method that improves responses by retrieving relevant documents to enhance the context and accuracy of the answers.

We are pleased with the progress made during the hackathon and proud to have developed a fully functional version of the product within the tight timeframe. Our next steps involve refining the solution and launching a beta in November. Our ultimate goal is to create a tool we would use ourselves in managing unstructured data, a significant challenge we face in our day-to-day operations.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue developing…
